Hubei's foreign trade up 22.5 pct in the first three quarters of 2017

Hubei's overall import-export volume reached 228.66 billion yuan (66.49 billion yuan, 73.42 billion yuan, 88 percent, 75 billion yuan,  respectively, for each quarter), increasing by 22.5 percent year on year in the three quarters of 2017, the Wuhan Customs said Wednesday.

In the nine months, the exports gained 148.82 billion yuan while imports brought in 79.84 billion yuan, up 21.8 percent and 23.9 percent, respectively, all the above figures are above the national average.

The general trade is still the main engine for growth. During the past nine months, Hubei's overall trade reached 170.48 billion yuan, an increase of 26.9 percent, accounting for 74.6 percent of the province's overall foreign trade volume.

The exports of high-tech products reached 56.88 billion yuan, an increase of 36.4 percent. The laptops, the integrated circuit, the LCD screen and the appliances rose by 41.4 percent, 20.9 percent, 80.4 percent and 83.5 percent, respectively.

Except for the comprehensive growth in bilateral trade with the traditional markets like the European Union, the United States, Hong Kong, ASEAN, Japan and South Korea, the province also saw an import and export growth of over 20 percent with the countries along the ‘Belt and Road’, including India, Vietnam, Poland, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, etc.
