Comments from the 100th torchbearer ZHANG Wenxiu (CHN) at the last station of the 7th CISM Military World Games torch relay on October 16.

ZHANG Wenxiu said:

On lighting the torch for Wuhan 2019:

“I was so excited when I was lighting the torch. It feels like being at the scene and competing.”

On the difference between being an athlete and a torchbearer:

“Being an athlete is easier, because what I need to do is just to attend my training and do my best during the competition. Being a torchbearer means more responsibilities. No mistake can be tolerated.

"I feel that I am not only passing on the flame, but also the wishes of people and soldiers across the nation and the world. I feel like I am carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.”

On finishing the last station of the relay:

“I tell myself that I should relax and be myself. Do not make any mistake.”

On the uniform of the torchbearers:

“It’s nice and comfortable. This is my first time to be a torchbearer. I will keep the uniform and the torch at home.”

On the number of the uniform:

“When I got this number, I felt the number 100 stands for 100 points. I hope this number can bring good luck to Chinese athletes, so they can win more medals to bring glory to the army and our country.”
