Photo taken on Jan. 8, 2016 shows a view of the Dajiuhu National Wetland Park in Shennongjia in central China's Hubei Province.
The Dajiuhu wetlands, made up of nine lakes, is the largest wetlands in area with highest altitude in central China. It is the only inland sub-tropical forest ecosystem in the mid-latitude region in the northern hemisphere.
The Shennongjia Dajiu Lake wetlands are more diversified than any other wetlands. Amid the park’s unique and diversified environment, precious and rare animals such as golden-haired monkey, white crane and golden eagles live and multiply in the reserve. And also due to unique environment, relict plants such as Davidia involucrate Baill, Liriodendron chinense and Cercidiphyllum japonicum could have survived the destructive ice ages and can still live and regenerate in this reserve.
