1,100 Père David’s deer (or Milu Deer in Chinese) are now living in the Shishou Milu National Nature Reserve, Shishou, central China’s Hubei province. As the largest wild herd in the world, it is praised by UNESCO as a “good example of successfully protecting endangered species”.
Milu is a species of deer that is unique to the country.
