Located in the southwest of Jiayu County in Xianning, central China’s Hubei province, Dayan Lake is 17.5 km to the county and 5 km away from Qiujiawan.
In the ancient times, Dayan Lake was linked with Yangtze River, and it developed into a lake due to sedimentation of islands in the river. The lake gets its name due to the Dayan Mountain to the southeast of it.
With a depth of 2.5 to 6 meters, the lake has a storage capacity of 14.33 million cubic meters, and it is the largest lake in Jiayu County.
As a freshwater aquaculture lake in Jiayu, the lake now has 1000 mu of fishpond and is one of the six above 10,000-mu crab base in the county.(hubei.gov.cn by Mao Huifang)
