Xiliang Lake, with an area of 120,000 mu, is the largest lake in Xianning city and the fifth largest lake in central China’s Hubei province.
It takes the shape of a huge herringbone (just like the Chinese character of “人”). The lake belongs to Jiayu county, Xian’an District and Chibi city, and there are six towns and villages along the lake, with around 38000 fishermen.
Xiliang Lake is linked to Yangtze River through Jinshui River and at Jiayu wharf. It boasts rich resources of aquatic plants like water chestnuts, as well as freshwater fishes such as mandarin fish, snakehead, white ricefield eel, etc. Besides, it is also a paradise for waterfowls like wild ducks and egrets.(hubei.gov.cn by Mao Huifang)
