This is the traditional folk dance in Xuan’en County, Enshi, Hubei Province, named“Gun Long Lian Xiang”.
“Liang Xiang”, also known as “Ba Wang Bian”, is a traditional folk dance widely seen in Western Hunan, Western Hubei and Northeastern Guizhou, featuring flexible moves, brisk tunes and plain lyrics. An old folk artist from Lijiahe Township, Euan’en County called Zhou Shuting combined “Lian Xiang” with other traditional dances and created the unique “Gun Long Lian Xiang” dance that integrates singing, martial arts, dancing and rolling. Since 1950s this creative dance has been put on national and provincial stages for several times, and was honored as the “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hubei Province” in June, 2009.
In recent years, Xuan’en County put much emphasis on the strategy of boosting the county through cultural development, as it arranged extensive activities centering on intangible cultural heritages for the progress in cultural undertakings.
