Mao Dehui makes a wooden cauldron at home in Qianjiang, central China’s Hubei Province, on Dec. 7, 2015.
Mao Dehui, 81, has been working on wooden cauldron since he began to learn at 14 and began to make a living with cauldron making afterwards. With this handicraft, he attended the carpenter organization during China’s planned economy time and worked at home after China’s economic reform. As China is industrializing, the market of hand-made wooden cauldron, used to be a household necessity to make steamed rice, is narrowing rapidly and vanishing. (Xinhua/Wu Yanjun)
