French Street lies in the Golden Harbor section of WEDZ. Since 1992, when the first French enterprise, Peugeot Citroen, arrived in Wuhan, more than 80 French enterprises have settled here; among those companies are Total, Carrefour, Alstom, and Schneider Electric. In order to make the French people here feel at home in Wuhan, the city government created a "French Street," one that offers leisure activities, recreational facilities, cultural sites, and sightseeing opportunities all in one place.
There are more than 1,000 French people living and working in Wuhan. Wuhan has become the most dynamic area for Sino-French cooperation; it receives more French investment than any other city in China.
