Hankou's Lihuangpi Road (黎黄陂路) is often regarded as a local "street museum." On this road is a French Catholic Church (首善堂). It is one of Wuhan's many outstanding historical buildings.
The building is typical of traditional Greek architecture. On the exterior is a three-story facade with a pediment centered atop columns and windows with elegant trimming. The decoration on the facade is quite exquisite. Above the main entrance is a second-floor balcony supported by four columns.
French Catholic Church resembles the building next door, the former Wuhua Hotel. In 1934, the hotel served as a base for the Young Women's Christian Association.
