New U.S. Consul General in Wuhan takes office

Mr.Vlad Lipschutz, the third consul general of the U.S. Consulate general in Wuhan was invited to settle in the city’s planning Consulate-General Zone by Tang Liangzhi, Wuhan's Mayor during their meeting.

Two sides vowed to promote the directly flight from Wuhan to U.S. and starting the U.S. visa application services in 2014.

Vlad Lipschutz told reporters he intended to boost the expansion of the Consulate during his two-years of his post.

Vlad Lipschutz is the third U.S. consul general in Wuhan, following Wendy P. Lyle and Diane Sovereign.

Previously, Lipschutz served as consular section chief at the US consulate general in Chengdu and the US embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, as well as consular officer at the US embassy in Beijing. Prior to joining the US Department of State, he was a federal prosecutor with the Department of Homeland Security and attorney advisor for the Department of Justice.

He holds a doctor of jurisprudence degree from Temple University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Franklin and Marshall College.
