The payment devices on more than 9,000 buses in Wuhan downtown have basically been interconnected into the China T-Union card system, said Hubei provincial transportation authority on August 27.

The cities in Hubei except for Jingzhou and Enshi, have all completed the same work in their urban area, totally contributing to nearly 20,000 buses and issuing over 10,000 China T-Union cards, they added.

As introduced, the Wuhan Metro Group will complete the retrofits to the ticket machines and turnstiles in the subway stations in Wuhan by the end of this year.

China T-union transport card, also China’s nationwide public transit card, is usable on all public transport systems including ferries, taxis, buses, bikes and subways. So far, the card system has been installed in more than 260 cities at prefecture level and above across the country.

The good news is that Wuhan is going to issue the China T-Union card in September this year. By then, Wuhan people holding the card are able to ride buses or take subways in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and any of the designated cities without buying new cards and enjoy local preferential policies as well.
