Hubei's observatory issued a yellow alert on July 22 for high temperatures over the next week.

Hubei's large areas except Shennongjia and western Enshi will see high temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, the observatory warned.

The observatory advised residents to guard against the hot weather, and workers who are exposed to high temperatures should take protective measures.

Some areas may see short-term rain, thunderstorm and gale, according to the observatory.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
