Hubei, the province in central China is showcasing its charm and beauty in ‘Beautiful China’, one part of photo exhibition of the ongoing Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations in Beijing.
The photo exhibition, comprising of more than 140 pictures, is set along the hallway of the conference venue, aiming to present the development and landmarks of China and other Asian countries.
The photo exhibition features four elements of Hubei: Three Gorges Dam, Three Gorges shiplift, Wudang Mountain and Shennongjia.
Three Gorges Dam Project is the world's largest hydropower project. It has created many "Firsts" such as the most efficient dam in flood control, the most difficult construction work and the largest migration project in the world.
The Three Gorges shiplift is currently the world's most technically difficult and largest of its kind. It mainly provides fast access for passenger and cargo ships and special ships. With the shiplift, the time for the ship to pass the dam lock can be controlled to about 4 minutes.
Wudang Mountain, in the northwest of Hubei province, is perhaps the best known of China's Taoist holy mountains. It was listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1994.
As a well-preserved oasis in inland China and very rare green wonderland in the mid-latitude region of the world, Shennongjia is one of the global 14 key areas with international significance in biodiversity conservation and research, and among the world's 193 biogeographic provinces, Shennongjia has the most typical and well-preserved eco-system of the mid-latitude regions. It was added to the World Heritage List in 2016. (hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
