Yearender 2018: Big events winning world's attention in Hubei

The year of 2018 is coming to the end. During the whole year, Hubei has hosted nine international big events to further opening up and promote economic growth, including the annual OVC EXPO, Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China (COCPDC) as well as other seven activities with high specification and large scale.

Let’s take a review of them.

1. The Tourism Ministers’ Meeting of SCO Member States

Time: May 7 -11

The first Tourism Ministers’ Meeting of SCO Member States was officially held on May 9, in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province. (photo by Mei Tao/ Hubei Daily)

The Tourism Ministers’ Meeting of SCO Member States, lasting from May 7 to 11, is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Hubei Provincial People’s Government. As a significant event for SCO in the area of humanities, the meeting is intended to enhance the tourism exchanges, seek cooperation in tourism and further develop good-neighborly and friendly relations between member countries on the basis of building common tourism space. >>more

2.Activity of the EU-China Light Bridge, 2018 EU-China Tourism Year

Time: May 10

2018 EU-China Tourism Year will highlight the activity of “EU-China Light Bridge”, during which, 33 landmarks in 18 Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Yichang will shine in blue of the EU flag. On May 10, it was launched in Wuhan at the Yellow Crane Tower under the witness of representatives from EU and SCO member countries. >>more

3. Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds event presenting Hubei

Time: July 12 

The presenting event at Blue Hall of the Ministry, July 12, 2018. 

On July 12, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a promotion event presenting Central China's Hubei province under the theme of "China in the New Era: Hubei, from the Yangtze River to the World" at the Blue Hall of the Ministry. More than 480 people including diplomatic envoys in China from 128 countries, representatives from international organizations in China, delegates from industrial and commercial sectors, Chinese and foreign experts, scholars as well as journalists attended the event. >>more 

4. Round-table Conference of 2018 Fortune 500 Dialogue with Hubei

Time: Sept. 11-12

Under the theme of “jointly build the Yangtze Economic Belt, share new development opportunities”, the Round-table Conference of 2018 Fortune 500 Dialogue with Hubei was held in Wuhan. Hubei’s provincial governor Wang Xiaodong attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech, vice governor Tong Daochi chaired the conference. The representatives of the event, including executives of world's top 500 enterprises and multinational corporations, delegates of economic and trade partner countries along the “Belt and Road”, etc., were engaged in the dialogues. >>more

5. The Sino-Nordic Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (China International Import Expo)

Time: Nov.5 - 10

At the Sino-Nordic Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum held on November 6, 21 major projects were also signed, covering the fields of agricultural products, advanced technologies and green industries. Humanwell Healthcare Co., Ltd. and Elekta Group signed an agreement on purchasing radiotherapy equipments. Wushang Group and Danish Speciality Foods Aps reached a 10 million U.S. dollars purchase agreement on the famous Danisa Butter Cookies. >>more

6. Forum on Global Production Capacity and Business Cooperation 2018

Time: Oct.19 - 20

The Forum on Global Production Capacity and Business Cooperation 2018, co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Hubei Provinicial People’s Government, was officially opened in Wuhan, Hubei’s capital city. >>more

7. OVC 2018

Time: Nov. 14-16

Under the theme of "Light Links the World, Wisdom Leads Future", the 15th Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition and Forum (OVC EXPO) was grandly opened in Hubei Province’s capital city Wuhan, where the Opitcs Valley is located, on November 14, 2018. With participation of more than 400 enterprises from home and abroad, the 3-day OVC EXPO witnessed exceeding 10,000 visitors and brought in 15 major projects totalling 23 billion yuan on the opening day. >>more

8. China International Friendship Cities Conference 2018

Time: Nov. 15-16

On November 15, an investment conference for international friendship cities was held as a sub-event of China International Cities Conference 2018 in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province. 21 projects worth 139.89 billion yuan, relating to the fields of auto parts, biomedicine, energy saving, international logistics, new retails, culture and education, were knocked off at the conference. >>more

9. COCPDC 2018

Time: Nov. 19 - 20

The 18th Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China (COCPDC) held in Wuhan this year raked in a total investment of 66.7669 billion yuan, said the organizer on November 22, 2018. This year’s conference witnessed 1,093 projects from home and abroad registered, and 121 of which have reached cooperation agreements and intentions, including 36 projects worth over hundred million yuan each. >>more
