China International Friendship Cities Conference 2018 concludes

China International Friendship Cities Conference 2018 concluded in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, on November 16.

The conference witnessed China embraced five pairs of newly twined friendship cities (including states and provinces), namely, Shanxi Province and Dundgovi Province of Mongolia, Shanxi Province and Mombasa of Kenya, Wuhan and Bangkok of Thailand, Qingyang of Gansu Province and Shawinigan of Quebec, Canada, Wuhai City of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Darkhan-Uul Province of Mongolia.China has established 2571 friendship cities relationships with 136 countries so far.

At the awarding ceremony, 78 foreign provinces and cities such as Brisbane of Australia and Fukuoka of Japan won the Friendship Cities Exchange and Cooperation Award with China. 40 China’s provinces and cities such as Tianjin, Shanxi, and Changsha won the International Friendship City Exchange and Cooperation Award. China’s Jiangsu Province, Guangdong Province, Henan Province and Wuhan won the Special Contribution Award for International Friendship Cities.

The China International Friendship Cities Conference has been held every two years since 2008. The next conference will be held in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, in 2020.
