Hubei companies contribute to the development of Papua New Guinea

In the first ten months of this year, Hubei companies in Papua New Guinea signed contracts valuing 5.01 million U.S.dollars and generated 1.04 million U.S.dollars in sales, the Hubei Commerce Department said on November 15, 2018.

Located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, Papua New Guinea is considered a "pearl" on the 21st century Maritime Silk Road. It is richly endowed with mineral and agricultural resources but its infrastructures are not well developed.

China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) has started to undertake an electric power project in Papua New Guinea since last year. On June 19, 2017, CGGC signed the Stanley300MW gas power plant and power transmission project in Beijing. It is reported that this project will significantly ease the power shortage in Papua New Guinea, promote local employment, and accelerate the social and economic development and social modernization of Papua New Guinea.

Moreover, Wuhan Surveying Geotechnical Research Institute Co., Ltd. Of MCC undertook this year's exploration of the Ramu NiCo project in Papua New Guinea. (en.hubei.gov.cn)
