Hubei’s foreign trade up 9.4 pct in first ten months

In the first ten months of 2018, Hubei’s foreign trade turnover amounted to 277.83 billion yuan, up 9.4 percent year on year. Exports rose by 5.9 percent to 175.31 billion yuan, while imports grew by 16 percent to 102.52 billion yuan, official data released on November 13.

In the first ten months, Hubei’s import-export volume with general trade reached 211.34 billion yuan with an increase of 11.9 percent, accounting for 76.1 percent of Hubei's total foreign trade, up 1.6 percentage points year on year. In the same period, Hubei’s import-export volume with processing trade fell to 47.16 billion yuan, with a decrease of 7 percent, accounting for 17 percent of the total foreign trade, down 2.8 percentage points. The general trade and processing trade reflected the continuous improvement of Hubei’s independent development capability.

Exports of integrated circuits and automobiles grew by 53.4 percent and 21.4 percent, respectively. And exports of auto parts and railway transportation equipments respectively enjoyed a growth of 48.4 percent and 1.3 times, which injected new impetus into Hubei’s exports.

Imports of mechanical equipments witnessed a year-on-year rise of 22.5 percent, accounting for 61.5 percent of the total import volume. And imports of consumer goods stood at 2.26 billion yuan, up 32.4 percent.

In the first ten months, Wuhan achieved an increase of 8.5 percent of the foreign trade turnover amounting to 171.8 billion yuan, accounting for 61.8 percent of Hubei's total foreign trade.
