“Embrace China” Wuhan Overseas Chinese Teenager Summer Camp 2018 opens

On the afternoon of July 1, the "Embrace China" Wuhan Overseas Chinese Teenager Summer Camp 2018, organized by Wuhan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, was opened in Wudang Mountain.

In the next 13 days, 40 teenagers from the United States will experience a series of activities in Wudang Mountain, Suizhou and Wuhan to feel the full-bodied Jingchu culture and traditional Chinese culture with regional characteristics.

The young participants in this summer camp will deeply experience the culture of Wudang Mountain, Emperor Yan and Mulan (a legendary woman warrior of Chinese history)as well as the folk culture of Wuhan three towns (i.e. Wuchang, Hankow and Hanyang) and take part in the well-organized Chinese classes. They will also learn about paper-cutting, calligraphy and painting, tea art, experience the charm of cultural and sports activities such as martial arts and cycling, and appreciate the local customs of Hubei, and feel the profoundness of Chu culture.

All from the United States, the campers were born abroad with ancestral homes in Hubei. Their age ranges from 8 to 21 years old.

Launched by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese in 2014, the "Embrace China" Oerseas Chinese Teenager Summer Camp has won extensive attention and active participation from overseas Chinese teenagers. It was organized in Wuhan for the first time in 2017. (en.hubei.gov.cn)
