Hubei's foreign trade up 6.3 pct in first four months of 2018

The overall import-export volume of Hubei Province reached 93 billion yuan in the first four months of 2018, an increase of 6.3 percent year on year, according to statistics released by the Wuhan Customs in May.

The province's exports rose by 10.1 percent to 59.35 billion yuan, while imports rose by 0.1 percent to 33.65 billion yuan. Hubei's trade surplus expanded is 26.7 percent to 25.7 billion yuan.

In the four months, foreign trade between Hubei and the EU reached 14.63 billion yuan, a growth of 23.3 percent, and the data between Hubei and the U.S. amounted to 10.7 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5 percent.

Exports of Hubei's electromechanical products (including laptops and integrated circuits) increased by 5.7 percent to 34.31 billion yuan, accounting for 57.8 percent of the total exports. Exports of labor-intensive products and agricultural products respectively reached 7.94 billion and 3.24 billion yuan, representing a growth of 25.8 percent and a decline of 3.3 percent.

From January to April, Hubei imported electromechanical products worth 17.92 billion yuan, a drop of 10.6 percent, 95,000 tonnes of soybeans, a drop of 31.1 percent, and 30,000 tonnes of rice, up 79.5 percent, wood worth 540 million yuan, up 140 percent, pulp worth 950 million yuan, up 100 percent and medicines worth 220 billion yuan, up 92.2 percent.
