Hubei's foreign trade up 17.2% in January 2018

Hubei's foreign trade volume rose by 17.2 percent year on year in the first month of 2018 to 26.5 billion yuan, according to the Wuhan Customs.

The province's exports jumped by 20.3 percent to 16.94 billion yuan, while imports rose by 12.1 percent to 9.56 billion yuan.

In January, the overall volume of foreign trade between Hubei and the European Union surged by 39.1 percent to 4.15 billion yuan, and that between Hubei and ASEAN reached 2.95 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.1 percent.

Statistics shows that Hubei’s trade with the countries along the "Belt and Road" increased by 28.5 percent year-on-year to 7.68 billion yuan.

The exports of electromechanical products rose by 11.5 percent to 9.69 billion yuan, accounting for 57.2 percent of the province's overall foreign trade volume, while the others like textiles, footwear and medicines increased by 43.4 percent, 63.7 percent and 33 percent, respectively.

Wuhan, Hubei’s capital city, achieved 16.41 billion yuan in imports and exports in the first month of 2018, contributing to 61.9 percent of the total volume of the province.
