China Optics Valley will hire 1000 German retired senior technicians, senior craftsmen and senior designers to teach and help provide solutions in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei. The aim is to spend 20 years to change goods made in Wuhan into globally competitive products.

As introduced, German retired "craftsmen" will work in Wuhan for half a year, and each will get 10,000 yuan per month as allowance. Meals, accommodation and air tickets will be provided for free by enterprises they work in.

In November 2016, Wuhan was approved as a pilot city for the Made in China 2025 strategy. Hu Zhongyuan, vice-chairman of Hubei Laser Association and vice-chairman of Wuhan Municipal Association of Industry and Commerce, believes that Wuhan is bound to be a metropolis of manufacturing industry in the world with intelligent local people and preciseness of German "craftsmen".
