Hubei's foreign trade up 22.8% in the first five months of 2017

During the first five months of 2017, Hubei's total import-export volume reached 112.23 billion yuan, an increase of 22.8 percent year on year, Wuhan Customs said on June 12, 2017.

From January to May, the exports in Hubei reached 70.37 billion yuan, while imports reached 41.86 billion yuan, increasing by 20.4 percent and 27 percent, respectively.

The EU, United States, ASEAN and Hong Kong were the four largest trading partners of the province, with bilateral trade up 13.1 percent, 41.1 percent, 11.5 percent and 18 percent. Japan, South Korea, Australia and India saw the fastest growth in terms of foreign trade with Hubei.

The export of high-tech products continued to go up, gaining 7.7 billion yuan in mobile phones, 1.73 billion yuan in integrated circuit and 1.71 billion yuan in tablets, respectively.

Imports of iron ore and copper ore were 9.491 million tons and 310 thousand tons, a drop of 1.1 percent and an increase of 30 percent, respectively.

Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, recorded an import-export volume of 71.58 billion yuan with a year-on-year growth of 28.2 percent, accounting for 63.8 percent of the province's total in the first five months. Exports from Xiangyang, Jingmen, Huanggang and Enshi increased by more than 30 percent, while those of Yichang, Suizhou and Xiaogan decreased slightly.
