Dedicated train with Russian woods arrives in Wuhan

On May 22, a train fully loaded wood products of 2,400 cubic meters from Tomsk, Russia, arrived in Wujiashan container central station in Wuhan, marking the successful launch of China-Russia Tomsk Timber Industry and Trade Cooperation Zone.

Opened in April of 2015 by China-Europe (Wuhan) Railway, the Russia - Manzhouli - Wuhan freight train dedicated for wood transportation has run 135 shifts, greatly easing the ecological pressure of Hubei.

The China-Russia Tomsk Timber Industry and Trade Cooperation Zone is developed by Hubei Fuhan Wood Industrial Group in accordance with the paper issued by Chinese and Russian governments. It was enlisted as the key project of national “Belt and Road” Initiative and China-Russia cooperation in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

The zone covers forest area of 24,000 square kilometers with an annual timber cutting volume of 4 million cubic meters. At present, it has completed investment of 3.4 billion yuan and owns more than 2,600 Russian employees.
