On March 21, the second phase project of Wuhan East Lake Greenway officially started construction.

With a total length of 68.8 kilometers, the second phase project will wind through the Hou Lake and Tangling Lake, string together Ma’anshan Forest Park and the Baima Scenic Spot of the East Lake, and connect two universities, the Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University of Science and Technology City College, including a main route of 44.7 kilometers and branch route of 24.1 kilometers.

The whole project will set six first-level and second-level way stations, respectively. It will connect with the finished 28.7-kilometer greenway after completion, making the greenways into a circle and a web.

According to the upfront planning, the second phase project will build five themed greenways, named the Hucheng (meaning: lake and city) Greenway, Huze (lake and wetland) Greenway, Hulin (lake and forest) Greenway, Huting(lake and lane) Greenway and Senlin(forest) Greenway.
