Hubei submits plan for FTZ

The plan for Hubei Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has already been submitted to the State Council, and a working group has been organized, according to a press conference of the Hubei Provincial Government held on January18, 2017.

Qiu Lixin, director of the Department of Commerce of Hubei Province, said Hubei is currently engaging in preparations for the free trade area, including the development of administrative measures and regulations, and the refinement of processes and systems .

According to the plan, the Hubei free trade zone, which covers an area of ??119.96 square kilometers, has three parts: the Wuhan area (70 square kilometers), Xiangyang area (21.99 square kilometers) and Yichang area (27.97 square kilometers).

The Wuhan area will focus on developing strategic emerging indusrties such as new generation of information technology, biotech, intellegent manufacturing and modern services.

The ??Xiangyang area will put priority on the development of industries like manufacturing, high-quality equipment, new energy vehicles, Big Data, cloud computing, commercial logistics, inspection, etc.

The Yichang area will stress the high-tech industries, such as advanced manufacturing, biomedicine, IT, new materials and modern services.
