Four Hubei scenic areas named among top 10 China’s classic film scences

【Editor's note】: The 2016 China Cultural Tourism Industry Davost Conference opened in Beijing on November 12, releasing the top 10 classic film scences. The scenes were chosed from more than 30 movies which were voted by netizens and movie fans, with strict appraisal and selection.

Four tourism areas in Hubei, namely, Bailihuang, Three Gorges Household, Wudang Mountain and Badong Shennong Stream were named on the list.

Badong Shennong Stream

Location for: Dauntless Love (《漂洋过海来爱你》)

Dauntless Love won the “Sino-Japanese co-production exchange and contribution award” at the just-ended 29th Tokyo International Film Festival which was held from October 25 to November 3, 2016. It was shot at Tokyo, Three Georges and Shennong Stream, firstly displaying the culture of boat trackers at Shennong Stream on movie screen.

On the border between Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge is the Shennong Stream. It is 60km long, taking its rise from the main peak of Shennongjia (known as the first peak of central China) and flowing through Badong county, the stream ultimately flows into the Yangtze River via the Wu Gorge. Cruising along the stream by boat, visitors will become immersed in the wonders of zigzagging watercourses, the primitive environment, the canzonet by the boat tracker, and the mysterious culture along the banks. >>more

Three-Gorges Tribe (also named Three Gorges Household)

Location for: Children of the Yangtse Gorges (《三峡人家》)

The Three-Gorges Tribe Scenic Spot consists of the Village on the Water, the Brook-Side Village, the Mountain Village. The area has been officially designated as a “Protected Center of the Popular Culture and Art of the Three Gorges.” The Three-Gorges Tribe is located on Xiling Gorge in the city of Yichang, between the Three-Gorges Dam and the Gezhouba Dam, in a region of mountains and streams where the scenery has the beauty of landscape paintings. Young women dance and sing as old sailboats moor placidly below stilt houses hidden in the bamboo grove. Maidens wash clothes by the brook side with their whirling batons, fishermen cast their nets in the misty distance… Entering the region feels like coming from afar into a dreamland garden. >>more

Wudang Mountain

Location for: Wu Dang (《大武当之天地密码》)

Wudang Mountain, in the northwest of Hubei province, is perhaps the best known of China's Taoist holy mountains. It was listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1994. The mountain has several main tourist attractions, covering an area of 300 square kilometers. From afar, the scenery resembles a beautiful, traditional Chinese landscape painting.

Wudang Mountain is famous for its perfect combination of natural and cultural scenery. It is also renowned for its magnificent ancient buildings, profound traditional Taoist culture and Wudang kungfu. >>more


Location for: Under the Hawthorn Tree (《山楂树之恋》)

Under the hawthorn tree, a film by the famous director Zhang Yimou, made Bailihuang tourism spot famous at home and abroad. After the release of this love film , many tourists rush there every year to find the romantic scenes in the film.

Bailihuang (uncultivated land of 100 li) is indeed an area of alpine meadow specific to the Three Gorges region. It was a deserted area in ancient times, whence its name comes.

The site, covering Yiling District, Yuan'an District and Dangyang City, has an area of 42 square kilometers. Known for landscapes like prairie, canyon, cloud sea, pine and strange rock, it is a perfect place for grass skiing, horseback riding, farming, tourism and leisure.
