Delegation of Birmingham, U.K., visits Hubei to seek further cooperation

On September 27, Guo Shenglian, vice governor of Hubei province met with a delegation from Birmingham City of U. K., having exchanged ideas on mutual cooperation.

The delegation will visit Wuhan Textile University (WTU) and attend the uveiling ceremony of the Birminham Institute of Fashion & Creative Art (BIFCA), which is jointly run by WTU and the Birmingham City University.

Guo presented the history, geography, economy and science and education situation of Hubei to the delegation, adding that Hubei is China’s third largest education center with more than 120 universities, 1.4 million college students and over 1,700 various kinds of scientific research and development institutions.

As the first international joint program of undergraduate course in Hubei, BIFCA is intended to inceasingly promote the internationalization of higher education of this province. It is hoped that WTU might further the quality of personnel training, scientific research strength and ability to serve the community, strengthen cooperation with universities, research institutes and large enterprises at home and abroad and enhance the level of educational internationalization, he added.

The Birmingham side also expressed their willingness to cunduct a more extensive and deeper cooperation with Hubei in science, technology, education, art and industries, etc.
