Hubei adds eight academicians

Hubei in central China added eight academicians, according to the list of newly elected members of China’s two top science academies on Dec. 7, 2015.

The eight new memberships include 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) as follows:

As known, the biennial election of academy members is the highest accolade for scientists in China. 61 Chinese scientists and 12 foreign scientists were elected members of the science academy, and 70 were elected to the engineering academy.

Of the 70 new CAE members, 13 work for innovative enterprises, while the others are from universities, research institutes and hospitals. For the first time, experts specializing in emerging industrial technologies such as 3D printing, big data and next-generation Internet won the honor.
