18 civil airports were expected to be newly built in the south and central China, according to 2015 annual meeting of China's civil airport construction held in Wuhan, capital city of cetral China’s Hubei Province on June 11.

Among the 18, two airports will be located in Hubei’s Huanggang City and Jingzhou City. Combing with other five airports in Wuhan, Xiangyang, Enshi, Shennongjia and Wudang, Hubei is going to own eight civil airports in next five years.

Compared with huge social needs, the civilian airports are still grossly inadequate in China’s southern and central region with 31 at present. Calculated in terms of every ten thousand kilometers, this number only turns out 0.31, far lower than the developed countries and regions like America (0.57), EU (0.92), and Japan (2.59), also lower than some developing countries as India (0.38) and Brazil (0.85).
