Wuhan wins the title of “National Civilized City”

Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, is noted as China’s excellent tourist city, the renowned historical and cultural city and the national water-efficient city.

A 69-year-old Wuhan resident took photographs of people who offered their seats to her on buses. The 59 pictures showing those kind-hearted citizens have become an instant hit on the Internet.

After 12 years’ efforts, Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, wins the title of “National Civilized City”, becoming the second city in Hubei to share this honor, the first being Yichang.

The contest of “National Civilized City”, which is held every 3 years, honors the harmonious development and civilization promoting and indicates the level of a city’s overall economic strength and social civilization.

Wuhan topped the list of candidate provincial capitals for the fourth batch of National Civilized City released on January 31, 2015, with the highest total score in the assessment made by Central Civilization Office of China.
