Under witness of the two heads of China and France, the two countries signed an agreement in Paris on Mar 27, Beijing time, pledging to co-build the project of ecological demonstration city in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province.
It will be the first Sino-French ecological demonstration city in China.
This eco-city project plans to cover a construction area of 30 square kilometers. The two sides will be both involved in the project’s designing and implementation. This project will be infused the idea of low carbon and integration development of industrial park and city, and the sustainable development of technology and experience in urban planning & design, construction and management. It will also be centered on the use of renewable energy sources, eco-environmental technology and apply low-carbon transport system and green building.
In addition, the eco-city will build Sino-French Valley of Science and Technology to develop the industries of high and new technology, high-end manufacturing, modern service and fashion culture.
The two countries both aim to build this project a model of urban sustainable development in China, France, and even the world.
Hubei has a long cooperation history with France in the field of ecology and sustainable development. In October 2013, Hubei signed the munites of talk with French side to co-build the eco-city in uhan city circle. And on Dec.17 of the same year, the French Prime Minister visited Hubei and expressed his great attention on and support to the project of Sino-French ecological demonstration city in Wuhan.
2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-French diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership. At present, Hubei is the region owning the most French investment in China.
A new ecological city with French style and characteristics will emerge in Wuhan city cluster of central China's Hubei Province, local report said. >>more
