Hubei yields fruit in high-level foreign experts introduction

First Group of six high-level foreign experts introduced by the Recruitment Program of Global Experts has arrived in central  China's Hubei Province in September, 2012 to carry out their work.

Meanwhile Hubei awarded 12 foreign experts Chime Bell Award which is the highest award of Hubei Province for foreign experts.  The award, funded in 1994, had conferred to 199 foreign experts from 23 countries.

The six experts, world-famous in their fields, target the research of the international disciplines and scientific and  technological frontiers of development, making the State Key Laboratory and key disciplines as the platform.

In the first selection of Recruitment Program of Glob Experts, Hubei ranked first in both the number of selected experts and  the amount of national fund. The six experts are the Professor Li Bo who is the Academician of U.S. National Academy of  Sciences, receiving the Nobel Prize nomination and the Academician of U.S. Art Academy of Sciences, the Professor Gilbert who  is the Academician of Australian Academy of Science and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, the Professor Cristiani from  Harvard University, the Professor Morais from the University of Brasilia, the Professor Urgell from University of Michigan- Ann Arbor and the Professor Wolpert from Ghent University, Belgium. They specialize in the fields as biology, information and  new materials, etc.

The Recruitment Program of Global Experts which is also called the Thousand Talents Program. It is organized by the Central  Coordination Committee on the Recruitment of Talents. The program will last for five to ten years and has been carried out  since the year of 2008. It aims to recruit 1,000 overseas top strategic scientists and technological leading talents back to  China, hoping that the recruited talents will make breakthroughs in key technologies, develop the high-tech industries and  lead the emerging disciplines.
